Privacy Policy – Mare Studio

At Mare Studio, we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have.

Mare Studio (“we”, “our”, “us”) is located at Willem Beukelszoonplein 7, 2584 XJ Den Haag, The Netherlands and is responsible for the processing of personal data through our webshop and services. Our webshop runs on Shopify, which processes data on our behalf.

1. What data do we collect?

We process personal data that you provide to us directly or that is collected automatically when using our webshop:

  • Contact details: name, address, email address, phone number.

  • Order and payment details: payment method, transaction data, billing and shipping address.

  • Account details (optional): username, password, preferences.

  • Communication: messages you send us (e.g. customer service inquiries).

  • Usage data: IP address, browser type, website navigation (via cookies and similar technologies).

2. Purposes and legal bases

We only process your data when there is a valid legal basis under the GDPR:

    (legitimate interest or legal requirement).

3. Sharing your data

We only share personal data with third parties when necessary for our services, such as:

  • Shopify (hosting, payments, order processing).

  • Payment providers (e.g. iDEAL, credit card companies).

  • Shipping partners (e.g. PostNL, DHL).

  • Marketing and analytics tools (only with your consent via cookies).

  • Government authorities (when legally required).

We enter into data processing agreements with parties that process data on our behalf.

We use cookies and similar technologies to ensure the website works properly, to collect statistics, and – with your consent – to show personalized ads.

  • Customer service communications: up to 2 years.

6. International transfers

Because we use Shopify, your data may be stored outside the EU (e.g. in Canada or the US). Shopify relies on EU Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure adequate protection.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.

  • Rectify inaccurate data.

  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”).

  • Restrict processing of your data.

  • Data portability: receive or transfer your data to another party.

  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest.

  • Withdraw consent (e.g. for marketing).

8. Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, please contact us at info@mare-studio.nl. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

9. Security

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be available on our website, with the “last updated” date.
