It feels special to share this: Mare Studio is now part of Apartment 35, the new concept by Hora Barneveld. Two of our handmade wool rugs, Rustic River and Summit Sun — have found a place there, alongside furniture from Tacchini, Gallotti&Radice, Porro and Davide Groppi, and textiles from Dedar and Pierre Frey.
For us, this is more than a beautiful collaboration. It's a natural meeting between two ways of looking at interior design.
An interior that invites you to slow down
Apartment 35 is designed as a creative convergence of leading design brands. Each zone has its own character, rhythm and materiality. Sightlines flow through, transitions remain open. It's a space that invites you to move and to slow down at the same time a continuous interplay between looking, touching and experiencing.
That layered approach is close to what Mare Studio stands for. We create interiors that are not only beautiful to look at, but that also bring rest. Materials that invite touch. Objects that evoke a feeling. Designed to Unwind, we call it.
Rustic River and Summit Sun: wool as a carrier of calm
Both rugs in Apartment 35 are made from one hundred percent wool. Rustic River carries the muted tones of a riverbed soft hues that make space for silence. Summit Sun holds the warmth of late afternoon light on a mountain slope: a tone that moves with the time of day.
We choose wool with care. The fibre is resilient, naturally climate-regulating and fully natural. No synthetic fibres, no artificial sheen. What you feel beneath your feet is the same fibre that has kept sheep warm for centuries nothing more, nothing less.
A custom rug as the foundation of a room
Both rugs were made to measure for the zones where they now lie. That isn't a coincidence. A custom rug does something a standard size cannot: it draws a room. It marks where a seating area begins, where a dining space ends, where you come to rest.
At Mare Studio we always start from the dimensions of your space never the other way around. A first sketch, samples to feel in your own light, and within six weeks your rug arrives in the Netherlands, handmade in Europe, ready to settle in.
A shared language
What we love about Apartment 35 is Hora's deliberate choice for a curated approach. Not full collections shown side by side, but one coherent whole. A design only becomes a design in relation to what surrounds it.
That's how we see rugs, too. Not as a standalone object, but as the quiet foundation on which the story of a room can unfold.
